Khotan

Khotan

Antique Khotan rugs are named after the city of Khotan, where they were woven and produced in East Turkestan. The city of Khotan was a center for design in the 18th and 19th centuries, helping bring alive the legends of Marco Polo and the Silk Road. These oriental rugs have been around for thousands of years and have a style all of their own, from elaborate borders, repeating patterns, and medallions that are influenced by different proximal regions such as Persia and China, which would explain why they encompass Persian motifs and Chinese design elements in their design.
